In the snake temple:
First glance, I thought it said "Just for book". Well, it is nonetheless a direct translation from Chinese to English.
We were at this Dato' Keramat place eating seafood popiah and pasembor when a few of us were dying to go to the loo. And this was what we saw at the public toilet:
And yes, they did provide the public with slippers. The toilet was well maintained, mind you. We initially mistook the toilet as a surau.
Nasi Kandar has been said to originate from Penang. I guess it really did because it is seen in quite a lot of places in Penang. The famous Nasi Kandar Pelita and Nasi Kandar Kayu seem to have branched out rather prosperously. However, I have heard that the pioneer of nasi kandar is located in a small cornered stall nearby the UNESCO site in Penang. They start selling only at 10pm and their customers take the liberty to line up even before they start business. We were there by 10.30pm and true enough, the line as going towards the road. As you can see, the title is self-explanatory:
The line never seemed to shorten and was at one time reaching the road. It was not a short process of waiting but people were patient. I suppose it was worth waiting because their nasi kandar was indeed delicious!
