Phelps reigns the world of swimming! 8 Olympic Gold Medals!

~Michael Phelps~

A name that will be remembered for decades to come, if not centuries...

The greatest Olympian, to have collected a total of 14 gold
medals in 2 Olympics games (Athens; 2004, Beijing; 2008).

He has created history by winning 8 gold medals in ONE OLYMPIC !

He will be well remembered. His history will be spoken by many. It will take another, much stronger person to overtake what he has done in the pool... And I wonder who this next person will be? When will he pop up? Will there ever be such a person in the 1st place?

He is currently unbeatable... And I wonder again
how long will he stay unbeatable? How long will he hold his world recordS? Will he appear as strong in the next Olympic games in London?

I started watching swimming because of the mighty Thorpedo, Ian Thorpe. With Thorpe's retirement, Phelps spurred me on to continue supporting swimming. These two swimming giants are definitely people that I will remember and admire for life...

Salute to Phelps, the greatest Olympian...

Chong Wei falters... to dominant Lin Dan...

~Lee Chong Wei (Malaysia) vs Lin Dan (China)~ 17 Aug 2008, Beijing Olympics.

All Malaysians were expecting a tough fight between the badminton World No.1, Lin Dan and World No.2, Lee Chong Wei in their quest of who was to be the Olympic Champion 2008. Anticipating the game, I sat enthusiastically in front of the tv, waiting for the game to start, just right after the medal ceremony for the mixed doubles game. Soon enough, the game began...

Needless to say, Lin Dan controlled the game with utmost confidence from the start itself. Hc and I convinced ourselves that Chong Wei was a slow competitor and he needed some warming up before catching up with the World No.1... Much to our disappointment, Chong Wei never made it, not even close to Lin Dan... Losing 12-21 to Lin Dan in the 1st game...

I was expecting the tables to turn in the 2nd match. From bad, it became worse... There was nothing Chong Wei could do to stop the aggressive Lin Dan. Lin Dan was too much a strategist and attacker at the same time, nipping every single opportunity he had to sabotage Chong Wei's hope of keeping up with his scores. Lin Dan set his pace well, killing every moment he sees a chance, or at least forcing Chong Wei to hand him a free shot to carry out his perfect attack...

Final results - Chong Wei bowed, hands down to the current greatest badminton player, Lin Dan of China. Thus, ending Malaysia's hope of getting the first ever Olympic gold medal.

Scores: 21-12, 21-8

There's not much to comment except that Chong Wei was not on form tonight and of course, we all know and believe that he is much more capable than what he had delivered tonight. I guess, "luck" wasn't on our side of the country. Unlike Lin Dan, he was full of energy and was out there, determined to go for the kill; he lead an easy win, leaving Chong Wei no chance of being anywhere near his collection of points. Lin Dan has been maintaining his status as World No.1 for quite a long time already. It is not an easy task, especially for a badminton player.

Salute to Lin Dan...

Nonetheless, respect for Chong Wei for being able to make it thus far... His record will probably stay on for another decade in Malaysia (I think... Haha...) - The badminton singles player who bagged a silver medal in Olympics.

Lin Dan kissing his gold medal after a convincing win.

A dejected looking Chong Wei with his silver medal.
